Solar absorption air-conditioning system for research purpose, University of Hong Kong

A solar absorption air conditioning system was built by the University of Hong Kong for research purpose. Anyone interested in the project can read the research papers published by Dr. Sumathy listed on This web page has hyperlinks which may transfer you to third-party website.http://www0.hku.hk/rss/rs2001/rpg_14500_gen.html

Examples of concentrating solar power installations in other places

As CSP systems have not been installed in Hong Kong, example installations in other places are described here.

Trough System - Kramer Junction, California, USA

Total generating capacity of this concentrating solar power station is 150MW.

Dish/Engine System - University of Nevada Las Vagas, USA

The Nevada 1 MW Solar Dish-Engine was set up to demonstrate the dish/engine power generation system, and for collecting data on the performance, operation, and reliability of the system.

Power Tower System - Solar One Power Tower System, Southern California, USA

The Solar One 10MWe pilot power tower plant operated from 1982 to 1988 as a demonstration project to prove the technical feasibility of solar power tower technology. During its operational period, the system was available for more than 80 percent of the time. This system was then replaced by the larger Solar Two demonstration project.
